False Bay, Cape Town

Quieter and far less trendy than the Atlantic seaboard, the False Bay coastline has the advantage of warmer waters making it a popular family destination. There are plenty of outdoor activities to enjoy, and many of the popular tourist attractions are nearby. Head False Bay way for a laid-back holiday with fewer holiday makers and crowds.

Muizenberg offers an extremely long beach popular with surfers, St James and Kalk Bay are quaint with tidal pools for children to enjoy. Kalk Bay has recently become an 'arty' stop-off with antique and decor stores lining the main stretch. Fish Hoek is a sleepy town and its beach is popular with families and the naval town of Simon's Town has a touch of history to offer as well as the tale of Just Nuisance and the penguin colony at Boulder's Beach is also well worth a visit.

There are a few hotels that dot the seaside towns, as well as plenty of guesthouses, B&B's and self-catering options.
