Day trips and Tours of Cape Town

There are many facets of Cape Town and a holiday could centre on any number of activities from sight-seeing to relaxing, shopping to wine-tasting, hiking to golfing ... the list goes on. It is safe to say that whatever your interest, you are sure to find something just right for you in Cape Town. Although Cape Town is not a particularly big city, areas of interest and tourist attractions are spread out and in most cases public transport is not an option. To make the most of your time in Cape Town you can either hire a car and explore at your own leisure or join various day-tours for some outings and make your own way for others.

Cape Point
Visit Cape Point Nature Reserve for scenic drives, beautiful flora and fauna, and spectacular views from the old lighthouse.

Hire a Car in Cape Town

Hire a car and explore Cape Town at your own pace. Cape Town is generally easy to navigate - roads are well laid out and when in doubt, look for the mountain to orientate yourself. Areas of interest and tourist attractions are well sign-posted and most information brochures include maps that highlight attractions. Petrol stations can be found at regular intervals (some stay open 24-hours), but aim to keep the petrol tank filled up to avoid running out of petrol late at night or in remote areas. For your safety, avoid driving in remote areas at night and always park in a designated, well-lit area. When leaving your car, lock valuables in the boot instead of leaving them where they are clearly visible.
